FAQs

What drill bit do I need for yellow plugs?

Use a 5mm masonry drill bit and drill to a depth of at least 30mm.

What screw should I use?

Yellow plugs take 3.0 – 4.5mm screws (gauge 4 – 8). The screw should be the plug length plus the thickness of whatever you’re fixing. See our wood screws range.

Can I use these in plasterboard?

No – plastic plugs are for solid walls (concrete, brick and block). For plasterboard or hollow walls use a cavity fixing.

What do the plug colours mean?

The colour shows the drill and screw size: yellow for 5mm holes and small screws, red for 5.5mm holes, brown for 7mm holes and blue for 10mm holes and heavier screws.
