What spanner size fits an M5 nut?

M5 nuts take a 8mm spanner or socket.

Hex nut or nylon lock nut?

Use a nylon insert lock nut where vibration could loosen the fixing. Standard hex nuts are fine for static joints, especially with a washer or locknut.

Can nylon lock nuts be reused?

They can be reused a few times, but the nylon grip reduces with each use – fit a new nut on critical joints.
